It's different from any typical race in that it combines several aspects of racing into one event. Get wet, go fast, and get dirty! Each type of racer will be exposed to a new aspect of racing that you will not want to miss out on. Online Registration is open. Sign Up today. On-site, race day registration will be available for any last minute participants wishing to take on the unique YAKathon Adventure Race. Please remember you need to arrive 1 hour early to sign up, packet pickup, get your bike to the bike area (don't forget your helmet), and make it to the start line.

Kayak Leg:

The kayak leg will be the 1st one. There will be a 1/2 mile run to get to the kayaks. The kayak will start and end at the same location. You will basically go around an entire lake. There will be plenty of safety personnel on the lake in kayaks and jet skis. ROA will have 50 kayaks for participants to use in each wave of 50. Participants kayak the 1 mile course and return to the same starting point and continue on the race course to the Bike Leg. You're welcome to bring your own kayak if you have one.

Bike Leg:

The bike leg will be 2nd. The bikes will be staged near the kayaks and you will have your own separate 8x8 area to stage your bike, your kayak, drinks, food, etc. You will leave on the bike and travel around the perimeter of the property through grassy trails, roadways and old orange groves. The length of the bike leg will slot machines online be between 6 to 8 miles. There will be very little sand, but mostly grass. There will not be anything extreme on the bike section. The course is Florida flat! It will be fun and will be a great workout. You must furnish your own bike. Bikes with wider tires will do better than skinny tires. You will be required to lift your bike ?? ???????? ??????? over a fence or two. You will return your bike to the Transition area by the lake and start your run.

Run Leg:

The run will be 3 miles of woods, some pasture, some mud and some obstacles. These obstacles will not be extreme nor will you need help to get through them. You will get muddy on the run. This race is not intended to be an obstacle mud race like the Highlander or Hot Pursuit 5K, but there will be a few things that challenge you on the run section.

Awards:

There will not be separate trophies for the competitive wave and the regular waves. The Solos (including the competitive wave), the Teams and the Relays will be scored separately and will be in their own separate waves. Normal 10 year age groups and overall male female. There will only be Awards for each category, regardless of how many waves we have to add. You will be marked with a magic marker on your arm, just like a Triathlon. All Teams must do the course together and cross the finish line together in order to qualify for Awards. This is our first YAKathon and we hope you come on out and give it a try.

Get ready to get wet, sandy, and muddy in this unique off road challenge...YAKathon Adventure Race!

Kids Race?:

As far as a Kid's race, I would like to hear from about least a dozen parents that would like us to have a race for the little ones. I can add it if I get at least a couple dozen kids interested. I will need to design a separate course for them. I have shortened up the bike leg, but if enough people want a even shorter course, I can offer that too, provided I know well enough in advance. Your comments are encouraged!

Registration Cost:

See Registration Page for the YAKathon II for up to date pricing for all waves for individuals and teams.

Wave Times:

The kayak section will be a mile in length. The first wave that starts at 8:00 will be the competitive wave. Solos will be the second wave at 8:30 and Teams will leave at 9:30 and Relays at 10:30. The number of participants in each wave will be determined on how many of those participants bring their own kayaks. There will only be 50 furnished kayaks. Waves will only be added after existing ones fill up.
